There are words that Samuel, who used to be Natacha, can no longer use now that he is a man; there are gestures he can no longer perform because they are not manly, social relations around him have changed. It’s so hard not to get mixed up. Not to kiss a man on the cheek, to give a handshake instead.
Samuel Pereira da Silva is in the middle of the process of building a new character and introducing himself to society. It’s hard on Samuel, but maybe even more so on his mother. Ana Pereira is still coming to terms with the idea that she no longer has the daughter she always dreamt of having, the little girl in the photos is changing his voice and growing a beard.
